Fujairah CP inaugurates 16th Arab International Conference on Mineral Resources
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, inaugurated the 16th edition of the Arab International Conference on Mineral Resources, held under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The event will run until 24th February in the Al Taif Business Centre in Fujairah, under the theme, “Mineral Resources, The Cornerstone of National Development”, with the participation of 50 countries.
The conference is being held in cooperation between the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation and Mining Organisation (AIDMO), the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation.
During the inauguration, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad highlighted the significant attention given by the UAE Government, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, and, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, for vital sectors, and the keenness of Fujairah to support the national economy, in implementation for the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of mineral resources in driving sustainable development, being the cornerstone of boosting the economic and infrastructure sectors while pointing out the significant activity in Fujairah’s mining sector and its future plans, which are in line with the country’s strategies.
The event was attended by Sheikh Saif bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Director-General of the e-Government Department of Fujairah; Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation; Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Fahd Mutlaq Al Shariaan, Minister of Trade and Industry of Kuwait; Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Bahrain; Muhammad Bashir Al Manawi, Minister of Minerals of Sudan, and Saeed Muhammad Al Raqbani, Special Adviser to the Ruler of Fujairah, along with several ministers concerned with the mineral wealth sectors of Arab and foreign countries.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi said Arab countries are abundant in various mineral resources and the UAE has adopted relevant ambitious projects and drafted laws regulating the mineral resources sector.
Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, highlighted the importance of the conference, which aims to leverage the knowledge of specialists, and underscored the support of the Crown Prince of Fujairah for the efforts to achieve the event’s objectives.
The conference is a leading event in the mining and mineral resources sector, gathering 700 scholars and experts in geology and mineral resources who exchange expertise and development solutions, he added.
The inauguration was also attended by Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhany, Director of the Emiri Court of Fujairah; Salem Al Zahmi, Director of the Office of the Crown Prince of Fujairah; Adel Saqr Al Sager, Director-General of the Conference; Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, and several local officials.
